AR-TUR

3 May 2019 – The sustainability of much affordable housing needs to be improved as a matter of urgency. That is a complex task. How do we choose an approach that is both qualitive and affordable? How do respond to the quality of dwelling and how do we also keep an eye on heritage values? How do we cooperate with residents?

AR-TUR, the centre for architecture, urbanity and landscape in the Belgian Kempen, organised a lecture evening Sustaining Living Quarters. On 14 May 2019, together with designers from Flanders and The Netherlands I talked about recommendations and pitfalls in their approach. I presented the renovation of Garden village Kethel in Schiedam.
