Court with semi detached houses and a workspace in Hilversum

The design combines the typology of the semi-detached house with a court-like layout inside the perimeter block. The use of the courtyard is stimulated by the floor plan which can be subdivided freely. Folding doors give access to the courtyard. The timber finish to the gutters, canopies and carports establishes a flowing line, which links the separate volumes.

The Vaartweg project has been published in De Architect and features in Lukas Imhof’s book ‘Midcomfort’: ‘Nothing is old-fashioned about this architecture, yet everything is familiar.’
