12 March 2024 – While I was in Venice with students from the RAvB and with my colleague teachers Theo van de Beek and Karin Templin to learn from the Renaissance and Baroque, Harmen took photos on the construction site of Nieuw Kralingen. He shot a detail of a brick façade column. The reduced column capitals and bases are borrowed from the housing designs of Scotsman Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson, who built a lot in Glasgow.
Venice – Glasgow – Rotterdam.
Karin always puts it like this: ‘architecture is a moveable feast’.
