Green Lane Triangle
57 appartements, duplex housing, terraced housing & parking, Birkenhead, UK
Private housing
Client: Maritime Housing, Liverpool, UK
Co-architect: MBLA, Manchester, UK
2001 – 2006
On a triangular site in the Tranmere district of Birkenhead, a town near Liverpool, 57 dwellings were built. The proposed design works with the scale and typology of the architecture in the area. The free-standing house positioned in a row is an alternative to the closed street facade.
Green Lane Triangle has been published in Architecture Today, Building Design and Architectural Research Quarterly. Architecture critic Ellis Woodman wrote: The language is familiar from 19th century terraced housing but is lent a hyper-real intensity through the precision with which it has been pursued.
During the construction phase, the project was managed by MBLA, Manchester. Photography: John Davies, Liverpool.
