The so-called Q-block on the edge of Nieuw Kralingen in Rotterdam comprises rental flats, two care homes, commercial premises and a car park. Together with ERA Contour, we conducted an extensive study into the efficiency of the supporting structure. Ultimately, the car park was designed to be completely underground. The costs are offset by the number of parking spaces that this makes possible.

The block appears to be made up of three different buildings, each with its own materials and details. The residents share a green roof garden, which can be reached by a public staircase. The spaces for bicycle parking and installations are located indoors, creating a solid urban block with liveliness on the ground floor.
