16 October 2025 – The municipal appraisal committee of Purmerend has selected us as one of three architectural teams to design the Schapenmarkt in Purmerend. Together with Vendrig Leegwater Architecten, we will be working on a location that is currently used for parking, but which in the future will become an distinctive meeting place with a hotel, restaurants, residential accommodation, social and economic facilities, and a car park.

The assessment committee selected the teams on the basis of structural designs. The other teams are Ard de Vries Architects & Studio Donna van Milligen Bielke and DELVA Landscape Architecture I Urbanism & Powerhouse Company.

City councillor Pascal Verkroost is pleased with the result: ‘The selected offices have presented a wonderful vision for the Schapenmarkt with their structural designs. I am very curious to see the preliminary designs they will now develop and am convinced that this will result in three designs that could all be a beautiful addition to our city centre. In December, we will present the preliminary designs to the city. The preliminary design with the most votes will then be further developed into a final design and subsequently presented to the city council.’

Now that the teams have been selected, they will further develop their structural designs into sketch designs. This design is expected to be presented to the residents of the municipality of Purmerend and the entrepreneurs and commercial property owners in the city centre in December of this year. In January, the winning design will be announced and further developed into a preliminary and then final plan.
